2012 Victorian State Cyclocross Championships

With possibly the fastest course CX has seen in Victoria, the running of the first ever State Championships were held on 23rd September 2012 at Bundoora Park.  Drawing competitors from Under 11s right through to Masters 6, an exciting day of racing saw the awarding of the first state champion medals for this cycling discipline in Victoria.

Whilst there were some notable mentions across all categories the ride of the day would have to go to the newly crowned Elite Mens champion, Lewis Rattray.  After having an incident and dropping his chain at about the 20 minute mark of the race and losing around 30-40 seconds from Allan Iacuone and Adrian Jackson, who were laying down some rapid lap times, he dropped the hammer and dug deep into his suitcase of courage to bridge the gap and run out eventual winner.  Enough words from me, click on the below images to be taken to the galleries:
